your cross
hey.. something either very very coincidental happened.. or something very special happened. you know, i was about to come online, heave a huge sigh (which somehow i seem to be doing a lot these days) and you know, just rant about my life, and so on. cos i dunno, everybodys growing up too fast and yet im kinda still stuck in this secondary school life kinda mode. friends growing up, and suddenly it seems like.. man, my social skills really suck. you know, yesterday i sat for fifteen minutes in the toilet cubicle doing nothing.. because i had nowhere to go before my next class. stupid right. i cant believe i did that either. these days it seems i have taken to the toilet quite a bit.. but today was better.. :) i kind of talked to a few people in my class, which is better, i guess.. sigh, but the worst thing is it doesnt seem like anybodys really willing to hear it out.. yeah, so here i am.. okay wait.. im not supposed to complain about all this stuff.. yeah, so there i was, about to complain and complain.. when at the same time i was checking my mail right, and there was this monthly newsletter thingy that i subscribe to from http://www.makeachildsmile.org/ where you send cards and well wishes to terminally ill kids and their families. i have no idea why, but instead of just discarding it for later reading, i clicked on it, and guess what.. i read a really uplifting story. here it goes:
~ ~ Your Cross ~ ~ The young man was at the end of his rope. Seeing no way out, he dropped to his knees in prayer. "Lord, I can't go on," he said. "I have too heavy a cross to bear." The Lord replied, "My son, if you can't bear its weight, just place your cross inside this room. Then, open that other door and pick out any cross you wish." The man was filled with relief. "Thank you, Lord," he sighed, and he did as he was told. Upon entering the other door, he saw many crosses, some so large the tops were not visible. Then, he spotted a tiny cross leaning against a far wall. "I'd like that one, Lord," he whispered. The Lord replied, "My son, that is the cross you just brought in." When life's problems seem overwhelming, it helps to look around and see what other people are coping with. You may consider yourself far more blessed than you imagined. its like, hey, what have i been complaining about? you mean thats all there is to life? its very humbling, you know.. to realise that hey, youre not the only one you know.. what was i thinking of, i am so lucky.. my cross is so light.. yup, hope you enjoyed the story.. :)
