Has anyone seen the new MILO bus stop advertisements lately? Now the theme is you can have it anywhere, or something like that. Did you see the one with this boy in a science lab holding a MILO packet in some uniform with a black and green stripey tie. hmm. now where have i seen those colours before. *scratch head* anyways. It struck me as so so wrong. I mean, oh my gosh. Yeah well awesome idea you have there, but didn't your science teachers ever tell you that that is like, so wrong wrong wrong? Never eat in the science lab. That is like, the golden rule. Or well one of them anyways. I mean like, c-o-n-t-a-m-i-n-a-t-i-o-n. Sound familiar? There are like test tubey things and beaker (i think) and even a tripod stand thingthing and coloured liquids in the test tubes.. couldnt guess what ions were in them or anything, kinda forgotten that part of chem quitequite long ago.. (probably food colouring or sth though) yes, even with that wonderful chem teacher we all loved breathing down our necks.. going "ya ya papaya" and "be good" and all her other favourite phrases while we quaked away in our seats. i remember there was once (one of the many times) our class was like so deaded and not answering she went down the rows asking question. and then when it was my turn she was like, what bonds do metallic substances have? or something like that. and i gave some lame answer which i koped from one of the people in front of me because i totally had no clue because i had been having trouble keeping awake (yes, even in her class) and combined with her fearsomeness, that made me very very blanked out. turned out the answer was METALLIC BOND. like, wow. that is such a genius answer. anyways. poor kids. they might get kinda confused as to what to do in a science lab.
the ads reminded me of this time when we went for mrs ho's "training" thing, i was kinda.. horrified, a little, at all the pseudo-science.. and math that was going on.. although i didnt really care much about the math. i felt really really bad for the kids. and to think they bandied the word quote-unquote "professional" as though they were really deserving of the term. like. oh, my, goodness. but okay lah. better than no training at all? but what's really worse was when one of my students told me that his teacher said that the word rarely means not at all. like completely never. like omg. retraining. please. and soon.
aneeeways. this blog is so funny it makes me laugh without trying. i dont even know im laughing, its so funny even though its only about food. speaking of edible stuff. i put an egg into the freezer today and it froze! and cracked. like how if you make ice cubes theyre always bigger than the volume you put in. something to do with water getting an open hexagonal structure when it freezes or something. although when i tried to imagine all those dipoles and bond thingies it kinda didnt quite work out. explains the Excellent grade for chemistry. anyways, the egg outfroze the shell and it cracked. pretty cool huh. i suppose it would still be edible though. after it melts or something.
the water increasing in volume when it freezes is so P4 science syllabus lah. everything else shrinks when cooled or something like that. this, is such an occupational hazard, or whatever you call it. now i go around thinking.. oh papaya tree ---> lobed edge! the other one is maple! male and female parts on different plants! the other example is maize! oh hibiscus ---> jagged edge! the other name for jagged edge is toothed edge! the other examples are rose and balsam! and coriander, i suppose.. which i just bought at funorama but now ive nearly killed it. byebye, herb bread.. or dreams of herb bread at least.. and previous term was oh lookie, the moon ---> waxing, waning, crescent, gibbous! earth between moon and sun or moon between the other two! come to think of it, SA1 is round the corner. i know its a month, but when you see people once or twice a week, that works out to be only a couple of weeks away. oh shuckies.
and of course, a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to qi. *gringrin*
